  10. AUTODESK SHIPS RELEASE 12 FOR THE MACINTOSH

  12.     SAUSALITO, Calif. -- July 20, 1993 -- Autodesk announced today that
  13. AutoCADr Release 12 for the Macintosh is now available. "I believe this product
  14. is our finest Macintosh product ever," said John Lynch, vice president of
  15. Autodesk's Product Development Group.

  17.     The greatly enhanced features and unprecedented performance of AutoCAD
  18. Release 12, combined with the Macintoshr platform, offer Macintosh users as
  19. well as pencil-based drafters and designers the advantages of the world's best-
  20. selling desktop CAD program. "This Macintosh version of AutoCAD is very easy to
  21. master and it provides the power and productivity needed by architects and
  22. engineers who favor the Macintosh platform," said Lynch. "The Apple Macintosh
  23. personal computer is an important platform for Autodesk, and this fully
  24. compatible version of AutoCAD represents a strengthening of our commitment to
  25. the Macintosh user."

  35.     AutoCAD Release 12 for the Macintosh includes all key AutoCAD Release 12
  36. features, including support for the Advanced Modeling Extensionr (AMEr),
  37. AutoCAD Development SystemTM (ADS), AutoCAD Visualization Extension (AVE),
  38. AutoCAD SQL InterfaceTM (ASI), AutoCAD SQL ExtensionTM  (ASE), Autodesk Device
  39. InterfaceTM  (ADIr), AutoLISPr and 8-bit fonts.

  41.     Features specific to the Macintosh platform include:
  42.         A substantial increase in speed. For example, internal benchmarks
  43.            show the following increases in performance
  44.            over AutoCAD Release 11 for Macintosh:
  45.               ADS 5 to 100 times faster
  46.               AutoLISP execution up to 20 percent faster
  47.               AutoLISP loading up to 300 percent faster
  48.               Zoom and redraw up to 50 percent faster
  49.         Enhanced GUI menus and dialog boxes

  63.            scripts by simply dragging documents into AutoCAD
  64.         Licensed technology from Appler the Shared Library Manager that
  65.            dynamically loads ADS applications and Threads, a scheduler
  66.            that speeds up ADS applications

  68.     AutoCAD Release 12 for the Macintosh runs on the Macintosh QuadraTM series
  69. 700, 800, 900 and 950; Macintosh CentrisTM 650; Macintosh IIci, IIcx, IIvx,
  70. IIfx, IIsi and IIx; Macintosh SE/30 and LCIII under the Apple operating system,
  71. Version 7.1 or higher. All models must have a math coprocessor and a monitor
  72. that supports at least 640 x 480 pixel resolution.

  74.     The suggested retail price of AutoCAD Release 12 for the Macintosh is
  75. US$3,750. Current users of Release 10 can upgrade to Release 12 for US$700, and
  76. current users of Release 11 can upgrade for US$500. Education and international
  77. (including Canadian) prices for Autodesk products and upgrades may vary. For
